When you hear about airport workers not being vaccinated at airports around Australia. And when you find out about hospital staff not being vaccinated. Plus, the continual escape of the infection from hotel quarantine in capital cities every week and cities consequentially being forced in to lockdowns, you can think that you are living in a farcical play. In Australia, we have had more than four months to plug these vaccine anomalies and yet they exist. We have had more than a year to build proper quarantine facilities and yet have done nothing. Our leaders and the infrastructure around them seems incapable of doing the job. Australia’s Covid farce plays out every hour day after day.
Politicians Playing the Blame Game
These state and federal politicians spend so much time doing press conferences, talking up a storm and actually achieving very little. They seem incapable of doing the basics and yet blow hard via our screens. The state vs federal power divide is the widest crack into which so much conveniently disappears. Premiers and PM play the blame game long beyond any cows coming home. The federal government has backed the wrong horse in the vaccine stakes. We have ended up locally manufacturing a vaccine which can unfortunately kill the odd young person. Statistical medicine may promote the odds and the miniscule chance of developing this fatal blood clot condition but if it happens to you or one of your kids you will not thank anyone.
Australians sick of Being Inconvenienced
In liberal societies the friction rubs around individual rights during a global pandemic. Australians are sick of their lives being infringed and inconvenienced by policies instigated to prevent the spread of the virus. We have reached a pushback position and are experiencing Covid pandemic overload fever. Healthy Aussies are sick of this virus and all its strains impacting upon their ability to lead normal lives. They want to see a plan for the immediate future, which will see them free of lockdowns and able to travel.
Of course, many countries around the world have thousands of people dying from Covid every day. Australia has not seen a Covid death for some 80 days and 186 days prior to that one. Out of sight, out of mind. A total of 910 deaths from the pandemic have occurred in Australia. In the US 604, 714 deaths; in Brazil 518, 066 deaths; and in Mexico 233, 047 deaths from Covid. Nearly 4 million people have died from the pandemic globally. Australia’s Covid farce is a mere blip on the screen when considered in these terms.
